The Disasterwise Disaster Risk & Emergency Management Index (DREMI) -- pronounced 'Dreamy' -- is the world’s only independent benchmark of how well international disaster risk is being managed.
In a world where natural and human-made crises seem to be outpacing our ability to control them, evaluation of a country’s disaster risk management performance becomes an important measure of a government’s capacity to protect its people.
The Index evaluates national disaster risk management performance against 70 key determinants of disaster using quantitative and qualitative indicators drawn from publicly available data points, including JIAF-2, The Humanitarian Indicators Registry, UNDP's INFORM, ND-GAIN, and UNDRR’s Sendai Monitoring Framework.
The benchmark spans the critical domains of Disaster Risk: Hazard, Behaviour, Social Vulnerability, Physical Exposure, Community Resilience, Financial Protection, Public Administration, and Data Management.
Collectively, these meta-metrics provide the only independent and comprehensive overview of the state of each country’s readiness for, and resilience to, coming disasters.
